1.2 D r Ch'en Wen-chieh, Assistant Director-General, referred particularly to the importance of the participation of nationals a t the meeting, pointing out that only by joint discussion could it be ensured that the final proposals resulting from the meeting would really be relevant to the countries' health needs. He also drew particular attention to the agenda item on the programme reorientation process, which had been requested from the organization under the terms of resolution WHA30.30, and to the updating of the guidelines for medium-term programming.
